This movie caught me off guard. I did not expect it to be as good as it was. When I was a kid, I watched and played with transformers so I did have extremely high standards this movie had to meet. If I had to give it a rating from 1 to 10, it would definitely be a high 8 or low 9.
The action scenes were well done, though some of the acting was a bit dry you didn’t notice cause the action was so freaken awesome. One thing though, by the time you get towards the end of the movie, when you see some of the transformations, they spend too much time on it. Yeah it was very cool the first few times you did it however towards the end, the extra frames spent on extended transformations kind of took away from some of the action. All in all, definitely see this movie in the theaters if you can.

Only one word can describe this film and ironically, like the film, the word is dull.
Eragon is crap. I felt sooo cheated after watching that movie. Upon entering the theatre I had such high hopes of a new fantasy trilogy, unfortunately for me and millions of other viewers, the movie was a total let down from the very first “dramatic” scene of the “evil guys” stating that “without my rock blah blah blah”. Well if I didnt have my rocks, i’d be a woman so I guess I get where he is coming from.
They had a good cast and a good storyline. I believe the fault lies here with the director not fully developing the storyline or characters. They constantly referred back to “previous” events to try and build on a character but it happened like 30 seconds ago. The one character who actually developed almost to maturity, they killed. Who created the time window of 99 minutes? This movie could have easily been 2.5 hours long if they developed it properly.
After watching this movie, I felt jaded and disappointed. It felt alot like a college level movie and not a hollywood blockbuster. If I had gone in expecting college level theatrics I probably would have loved the movie.
Was Peter Buchman on crack and watching Star Wars when he wrote the screenplay? Was Stefen Fangmeier drunk? You can tell Fangmeier had a history in visual effects. The dragon was well done and some of the visuals were nice but.. my pun meter went off several times and I noticed several vague references to Star Wars. Now these may be in the book, I dont know. I have not read the book and i’m not too inclined to do so after this movie. If you have read the book and have seen this movie, please let me know if the book is better. I almost want to get the book anyway to fill in the grand canyons of the movie. Hate to break it to you Buchman, Jurassic Park 3 sucked also. Also a movie such as Eragon is definately NOT a movie to lose your directing virginity to Fangmeier.
The bar has been raised gentlemen. Lets try to at least make the bar if you arent going to make it OVER it. I realize this was your “first real movie” between both Fangmeier and Buchman but the end result still is DULL and CRAP. I’ve seen porn movies with better direction, scripts and acting.

Just got back from watching Batman: Begins and I have to say, its the best one of the lot. Hands down. I had serious doubts to go see this one as the last few just plainly sucked monkey nuts but I am glad my bro talked me into it.
The plotline is much more rich, characters actually have a presence on the screen. Absolutely great. Not going to divulge too much here as to ruin it for any whom have yet to see it.
