I am no expert at Guitar Hero. I can play a few songs on hard and 1
on expert. But, I am in love with this game. Guitar playing has always been one of my life goals and this is a good quick fix to years of lessons plus its entertaining.
Now I really did not plan to buy Guitar Hero 3 for a few months but my brother pre-ordered it from the local EB Games. Since he is in Florida right now, I took it upon myself to make sure his game worked. Here are my thoughts about GH3.
LOVE the songs, HATE the battles. Playing in career mode on medium (cause that is my easy mode), I was burning thru the songs for level 1 and level 2. At the end of level 1 I got my encore song but at the end of level 2, before I could get my encore song I had to battle. These battles are tough. If they used real music for these battles it would be much easier but they created new "crap" to battle with. I battled Tom on medium at least 10 times and no matter what I tried I just could not get him to fail.
The only reason I like Guitar Hero is playing the songs, not to get the best score etc like some of you folks out there. All songs are locked beyond level 2 until you beat them in career mode and you can not do that unless you win battles. So I tucked my tail between my legs and switched my career over to easy mode. This meant I had to start over on all songs. No problem except that playing the songs put me to sleep on easy. I get to the battle again with Tom and its so freaken easy. The level of difficulty between easy and medium battles is like a grand canyon. I’m going to complete the game on easy just so I can go into quickplay and play all the songs I want whenever I want.
Guitar Hero 3 is a great game. They changed a few things in this version that at first make you go WTF then go awesome. The new guitar is sub par though. While I am sure that some people may break there guitar down in two pieces, most will not. I found myself using my wired guitar to get maximum effect on whammy bar usage. In fact, I am going to ebay me another wired guitar. Wireless just is not cutting it. Out of 5 stars, I give it a 4. It looses 1/2 a star for forced overly difficult battles and 1/2 a star for the guitar.
I played the beta and its going to be kewl. Just watch the into.
For the past couple of years i’ve been indulging in this small guilty pleasure called Blogging. Its not much of a surprise when you are in public and hear someone mention there own blog. But when was the last time you heard someone say there blog was worth THOUSANDS? Now i’m not talking about greenbacks or any physcial currency. I am talking about the digital currency of B$. Its the online currency of Blogshares, an online virtual stockmarket where you trade BLOGS instead of Corporations.
They basically start you out with $500 in B$ to build and grow your portfolio. If you have a blog, you can even claim it and buy your own “company”. Myself, my blog listing is only worth a B$1 or 2 but that does not stop me from buying and selling other peoples blogs. Also, it shows that my blog is declining. I dont know how but I think it can be attributed to the fact that i’ve changed blog software so much that it has the wrong RSS feed URL in my profile. I dont see any way of changing that myself so I’ll have to open up a ticket. After a couple of years of on and off play, my current portfolio is valued at B$792,205.81. It would be even cooler if I could take $500 US and turn it into $792k US.
If you like fantasy stock market games, I warn you not to play this as you can easily lose several hours of your life in just one evening. Researching Blogs and getting sidetracked to reading them is definately a good way to lose those hours you are suppose to be walking the dog or doing the laundry.
They offer a premium service as well but I would advise against it just starting out. If you start getting into the game and start issuing lots of trades per day, the premium membership is definately worth it. Actually, it looks like my premium membership expired just last month. Do I need it? No. When I really get into the game though, it comes in handy. Very handy. You can easily do “day trading” and make a killing, which you will need the Premium for.
If you are extremely bored with the outside world, they even have IRC chatrooms where I coined one of my favorite “puns/jokes” years ago. Go have fun. ![]()

I have been beta testing it and absolutely cannot wait until the servers come back up to start playing on the live servers.

After lots of thought about leaving the world of MMORPG’s for good, I finally realized why I get bored with them so quick. The answer: BETA TEST. Yep. I usually get to beta test every single MMORPG that gets released. While most people would be saying this is good, I have found it is not for me.
What I found happens is, I work so hard in beta and go thru this “new content” only to have this character deleted when the game launches. Now I absolutely hate repetitive. I do not like to do something I have already done. So what this does is, when the game launches, I’ve pretty much already done the beginning of the game so I do not go much further.
You are sitting there thinking, so big deal. Well because of this, Matrix Online will be the LAST MMORPG beta I will involve myself in. I will wait until they go live. If I get into beta, or receive a key, I will raffle it off here on my website. So keep an eye out in case I get a key for EQ2. I’ve already pre-ordered the collectors edition!

If you are a fan of “The Sims”, you are absolutely going to love version 2.0. The Sims has a complete graphical overhaul, the ability to age and grow old and make anew, and so much more.
I could not wait to get home from the store after purchasing it and almost landed me a speeding ticket. Luckily I took my eyes off the box long enough to see the coppers sitting at the bottom of the hill. After a short drive that seemed to take FOREVER, I rush into my computer room and slam my newly purchased game into the drive.
Now, a fair warning for the impatient (read: ME). The install takes a good while, however, they give you a neat little “memory” game and trivia game to play while its installing. Albeit, not a good enough distraction, considering what you are installing. Finally after the install, I got to load into the game and all I can say is WOW. That sums up the immense beauty and elegance of this game. Was definately worth the $50 I had stashed for my eye exam.
If you have doubts and loved 1.0, do not delay, do not pass go, go directly to your nearest gaming store and BUY 2.0!
