But last night it sure felt like we were in Kansas! Tornados, lightening and rain all around where I live. I left my Dad’s store at 6:05 last night under HEAVY and I mean EXTREMELY HEAVY lightening, rain and wind.
Driving home I was literally “right next to” lightening several times and at one point it was so close my car actually got pushed to the should of the road from the sonic boom. That one had to of been at least 2-3ft wide. My radio went dead with static, and it felt like every piece of hair was standing up on my body. Was very frightening yet very interesting at the same time.
When I finally pulled into my drive lane that leads to my house, the radio cut out and broke in with tornado warnings for a few miles away from my house. My Dad is outside the house powering up the generator just in case and we all bunker down in the living room watching the TV for updates.. About a mile from my house the tornado turns and heads away from our house. A close call. In the mean time, at my dads store, a tornado touched down just ACROSS the street at the gas station. Wasnt a big one, but the other store owners that were still open said it was eery watching it “vacuum” the area and suck signs and debri up into the sky and have it land a couple feet away only to be sucked up again.
Sure was fun but I wouldnt do it again or for a living (ala no storm chasing in my future).
